Driving Licence Medical Certificates for Higher Classes – C, CE, D, DE

A medical certificate is required for higher licence classes (C, CE, D, DE) and the taxi driver licence (taxiförarlegitimation) – both for a first application and for renewal.

From age 45, the certificate is usually renewed every five years.

When is a specialist assessment required?

For certain chronic or more complex conditions, Transportstyrelsen requires the certificate to be issued by a specialist.

This may apply to e.g. vision problems, cardiovascular disease, neurological or psychiatric conditions, diabetes, and substance dependency.
